Devotion:

Today, we focus on the stark truth presented in Luke’s Gospel regarding the rich. Jesus directly challenges the common belief that wealth is synonymous with blessing, emphasizing instead the spiritual peril tied to riches. This teaching invites us to contemplate the deeper question of what it truly means to be blessed. Are we measuring our lives by what we possess, or by our heart's connection to God and others?

When we realize that wealth often leads to complacency, we can better understand Jesus' warning. It is easy to become engrossed in our comforts and lose sight of God’s kingdom. Instead, we are called to share our blessings and remain vigilant against the allure of greed. Let this day be a reminder of the greater joy found in generosity and connection rather than accumulation.

Questions:

How have your views on wealth changed after reflecting on Jesus’ words?

What areas of your life are you clinging to comfort over community and service?

In what ways can you practice generosity today?

Prayer and Reflection:

Pray for a heart that seeks to give rather than to accumulate.

Ask God to expose areas in your life where you may be placing value on possessions instead of people.
